A little about me…

I have over 28 years experience teaching high school and middle school students throughout California. I have taught algebra, geometry, business math, biology, earth science, chemistry, computer applications, and web design at the high school level. I have also taught pre-algebra, algebra readiness, algebra, life science, physical science, earth science, and physical education at the middle school level. I have developed math and science curriculum for advanced, regular, and at-risk students, and I have extensive experience differentiating instruction for all types of learners. I have considerable experience helping students and faculty integrate and utilize technology in education.

I continuously strive to promote a positive learning environment with a high level of student interaction. I enjoy teaching students of all ages, and I try to make lessons intriguing, mirroring real world problems and scenarios. I have organized many field trips, native plant and gardening projects, recycling programs, and health fairs to help make learning more hands-on and interesting. In 1997,  in collaboration with several  parents and students, I built a green house at an elementary school to help students grow and study plants. The students and surrounding community have enjoyed their green house for the past 25 years, beautifying their school campus with gardens while providing students hands-on experience. A few years ago, I completed building a greenhouse with volunteers at Redwood Middle School, and I oversee a lunchtime garden club the past 10 years at RMS.

I enjoy long distance running, hiking, yoga, snowboarding, cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with my wife, Silvia, and my daughter, Natalia.
